  • Book Week

    Fri 28 Feb 2025

Next week, the week beginning the 3rd of March, we are celebrating BOOK WEEK and WORLD BOOK DAY!

Here’s some information about what we’ve got planned...

WORLD BOOK DAY Thursday the 6th of March

All children are invited to celebrate and dress up as one of their favourite book characters. The character could be from any book of their choice – old or new, short or long, traditional or quirky – the world of literature is your oyster!!! We can’t wait to see what/who the children decide to be!

During the day, the children will be designing and making mad hats to wear to their very own ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’ where they’ll get to wear their designs and share all the things they love about their chosen book/character with their classmates and teachers. Keep your eyes peeled on the Facebook and Dojo pages for photos and videos of the magic!

    READ FOR GOOD READATHON

You will have received a letter from the school office with information about our Readathon earlier today.

Our Readathon is a wonderful opportunity to get every child to read by asking friends and family to sponsor them to read a page, a chapter or even a whole book! Every sponsor’s donation goes to the charity Read for Good, which provides books and storyteller visits for children in hospital. As a school, we also receive 20% of the total donated to spend on brand new books! Find out more here: www.readforgood.org

As shared in the letter, the children’s sponsor cards will be coming home with them on Monday and need to be returned to Class Teachers by Tuesday the 11th of March.

    PAIRED, PEER READING FOR PLEASURE

Throughout the week, every child will get to read a book of their choice with an older friend from a different year group. We believe this will be a brilliant opportunity to experience reading for pleasure with someone new and to build friendships and rapport within our school community.

MCGRAMMAR VIRTUAL EVENT Friday the 7th of March

Years 3 – 6 are going to be attending a very special virtual event with MC Grammar himself – the multi-award winning teacher and World Book Day Ambassador. They’ll be exploring his new book - ‘The Adventures of Rap Kid’.

  • ★ Golden Ticket Event ★

    Mon 24 Feb 2025

Oompa, Loompa, Doompa-Dee-Do. We've got a perfect treat for you!

Introducing our Golden Ticket Event, featuring our very own Wonka Bars (Galaxy chocolate bar).

Greetings to you! To celebrate World Book Day a special Wonka Bar Golden ticket event will be taking place after school on Thursday 6th March at the pop-up Chocolate Factory from 3:30pm in the school hall.

Some Wonka Bars for lucky winners will contain a Golden Ticket hidden inside to win one of our marvellous star prizes! We have 10-star prizes: 5 golden tickets for Year R, 1 and 2. 5 golden tickets for Year 3, 4, 5 and 6.

We also have 20 additional vouchers to be won, which include hot chocolate with Mr Allen, extra 10 minutes play time, non-school uniform day for your class to name a few.

Wonka Bars must be pre-ordered using the form at the bottom of letter sent out to parents/carers and will close on Friday 28th February or sooner once stock has gone. There is limited stock, so please order ahead in good time to avoid disappointment. There might be limited stock available to purchase on the day, which will be sold on a first come, first served basis but not guaranteed.

Wonka Bars will be collected from a "year group table" in the hall. If you find a winning golden ticket, the prizes will be set up at a separate table for collection.

You can purchase as many bars as you like and there will be an alternative "free from" option available for you to swap with.

We hope you all enjoy this scrumdiddlyumptious event!
