Scholastic Travelling Book Fair
Mon 24 Nov 2025Dear Parents and Carers,
We’re excited to announce that the Scholastic Travelling Book Fair will be visiting our school again soon!
This is a wonderful opportunity for children to explore a wide range of books and develop a love of reading, while also helping to bolster our school library with more brilliant books.
Book Fair Dates:
· Reception and Years 1 & 2 – Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd December
· Year 3 and above – Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th December
Book Fair Times:
· After school only, from 3.20 - 3.50pm each day
Please note that the Book Fair is cashless – payments can only be made via QR code, so please ensure you bring a mobile phone if you wish to make a purchase. There is something for every pocket on the book fair to assist with the rise in the cost of living. Approximately 25% of titles are under £5. Books start at just £2.99.
Alternatively, you can purchase book fair vouchers here: Book Fair Gift Vouchers - Scholastic Book Fairs.
Once a purchase has been made, you will receive the voucher in an email which can be printed and given to your child – much safer to carry than cash!
Vouchers can be purchased up until midnight on the day before the collection of the Book Fair.
We look forward to seeing lots of enthusiasm for reading and thank you in advance for your support!
Warm regards,
Halfway Houses Primary School

Reading Passports
Tue 11 Nov 2025We are delighted to share an exciting new initiative launching this academic year at Halfway Houses Primary School: our Reading Passports.
Each Reading Passport contains a carefully curated selection of nine rich and diverse texts tailored to your child’s age group. These books have been chosen to broaden and deepen your child’s reading experience, introducing them to a wide range of voices, cultures, and storytelling styles. Many of the titles have been handpicked by our passionate class teachers, who are eager to share their love of reading with their pupils.
While participation is optional and additional to the reading curriculum, we hope that every child will be inspired to take part. The books will be available to borrow from school, and as each one is completed, class teachers will stamp the passport to celebrate the achievement. We kindly ask for your support in ensuring that any books borrowed by your child are returned promptly, so they can be enjoyed by all members of our school community.
At the end of the school year, children who complete their Reading Passport will be rewarded with recognition of their Graduation from our Reading School on display for all to see!
We’re incredibly excited to see the children enjoying these stories, discussing them with their friends and teachers, and discovering new favourites along the way. Thank you for your continued support in nurturing a love of reading at home and at school.
If you do have any questions, please reach out to your child’s Class Teacher via Class Dojo.
Best wishes,
Miss Gardner

These items will be put to excellent use as part of our new Outdoor Play and Learning project here at Halfway Houses - thank you!
