  • Exciting News: A Brand-New School-Based Nursery Opening This September!

    Mon 23 Mar 2026

We are delighted to announce that Halfway Houses Primary School is opening a brand new, purpose-designed nursery provision for 3–4 year olds this September — an exciting next step in our ongoing commitment to serve our community and give every child the very best start in life.

A Nursery Connected to a Successful School

Joining our nursery means joining a school that is:

    ✔ Ofsted GOOD

Our strong leadership, high expectations and supportive culture ensure the best outcomes for children.

✔ Achieving above national outcomes at end of Key Stage 2

We are exceptionally proud that children at Halfway Houses achieve above national standards, showing the strength of our teaching and the engagement of our families.

✔ A school at the heart of its community

Opening this nursery is the natural next step in our mission to serve, support and uplift our community — offering local families a seamless, trusted educational journey from age 3 to 11.

A New Nursery Built with Significant Investment

This is a repurposed space following heavy investment, a carefully designed learning environment created to offer our youngest learners the very best:

    · Two fully refurbished classrooms transformed into a large, flexible and inspiring indoor learning space

    · A large, enclosed outdoor area designed specifically for early years exploration and physical development

    · A dedicated quiet room and sensory space to support emotional regulation and the needs of SEND learners

    · Direct access to our much-loved Forest School area, giving children daily opportunities for nature-led play and discovery

Every aspect has been shaped to reflect our school’s values of Resilience, Optimism, Ambition and Responsibility (ROAR) and our vision for children to “be the best we can be.”

Opening September — Admissions for 3–4-Year-Olds

In our first year, the nursery will open initially for children aged 3–4, providing:

    · A warm and nurturing start to school life

    · Smooth transitions into Reception

    · Skilled early years practitioners leading high quality, joyful learning every day

Join Us on This New Journey

We are incredibly excited to welcome our first nursery cohort this September.

If you would like to register your interest, ask questions or receive updates about admissions, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please email the school office hhoffice@tiltrust.org

Our Educational Approach: Curiosity, Creativity & Confidence

Our nursery follows a high-quality Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) approach that blends structured learning with play and exploration. Children will benefit from:

    A deeply child-centred philosophy

We believe every child is unique, capable and full of potential. Strong, positive relationships form the foundation of their learning journey.

    Enabling indoor environments

    · Language-rich, creative spaces supporting all seven areas of learning

    · High-quality stories, songs, rhymes and talk-rich play

    · Opportunities for early literacy, early maths, problem-solving and imaginative role play

    · Sensory exploration and meaningful, hands-on learning

    Outdoor learning at its best

Our Forest School and OPAL Play approach provide:

    · Confidence-boosting exploration

    · Resilience and risk-taking

    · Rich communication opportunities

    · Space to collaborate, imagine and create

This is early education done properly: nurturing the whole child, celebrating individuality and building a strong foundation for future success.

Why Families Are Excited — Consultation Feedback Highlights

Through our community consultation, we heard overwhelmingly positive feedback, including:

    · Strong support for establishing a nursery on our school site

    · Recognition of the high demand for quality nursery places locally

    · Praise for the Forest School ethos, outdoor learning, and the creative approach to early years

    · Appreciation that our nursery will offer consistent care and education within a trusted, successful school

    · Enthusiasm for a provision that supports local families and strengthens community ties

Your feedback has helped shape a nursery that truly reflects the needs and hopes of the families we serve.
