School Values
School Values and Ethos
At Halfway Houses Primary School, we believe that empowered children can ROAR.
We encourage our whole school community to demonstrate and take pride in our school values:
Resilience
Optimism
Ambition
Responsibility
We are committed to providing our children with the tools that they need for the future by being the best that they can be now, every moment, every day, every year and beyond. At the heart of our school is the power and support of our community which enables our children, families and staff to take on challenges, learn at the edge of their comfort zone and grow from the journey embarked upon.
Every child, irrespective of ability, background and starting point fulfils their potential with confidence, facilitated by inspirational role models who set the highest expectations and standards. At the centre of our dynamic, forward-thinking curriculum is pupil voice, where children develop their own opinions, challenge stereotypes, promote positive mental and physical wellbeing to become future citizens of the world.
Our Learning Muscles
Every week we focus on a different one of our learning muscles. These underpin our school values and were designed and developed to work in conjunction with the Growth Mindset philosophy that we promote as a school.
“In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment"
Carol Dweck
Class teachers track the certificates that each child receives and children are encouraged to aim to collect a certificate for every letter so that they can spell out 'Halfway'
#welearnasone
We have launched our new hashtag 'we learn as one'. This reminds our whole school community that everybody is equal and included and valued regardless of their race, culture, gender, religion or background We have some new signs around the school that help us to remember this.
