School Activities
We absolutely loved seeing lots of parents in school to help us to celebrate the re-launch of Monster Phonics for this academic year. There were over 100 parents in building - thank you for the support! The children really enjoyed showing their parents how our Monster Phonics lessons work, completing tricky word activities and even taking part in a Monster hunt on the field! You can see some of the wonderful monster costumes the children wore in the pictures too!
To finish the morning, we held a parent workshop session in the hall, where we talked about some of the principles of the Monster Phonics Programme, as well as what to expect from the children's Monster Phonics reading books and how to support their reading development from home. If you would like to take a look, you can find the slides from this parent session on the website, under 'Curriculum – Literacy.’

Science Week
What a great week it has been! We have taken part in so many amazing science activities and conducted some weird and wonderful experiments! Our science fair was so well attended and there was the greatest amount and variety of experiments that we have ever had. Well done to all of the children that took part, especially the winners who will showcase their winning entries at our Trust science fair tomorrow.
Book Week
What an amazing week we have had! We began the week with a whole school text and creating our own comic strips. We had a read different types of texts day and then a sponsored read and AR challenge day on Thursday. We also got to wear our PJs which helped us to be lovely and cosy when we were reading. On Friday we dressed up as our favourite book characters for the day.
Year 6 Residential Trip to France
We took some of our Year 6 children for a 5 day stay at Le Chateau De Broutel in Rue, France.
The children got the chance to try out so many new learning opportunities such as using the French language skills that they have learned whilst managing their budgets, working out how to pay in French shops and markets and learning how to look after themselves and each other in a new place. Some of the children were even brave enough to try snails! There were lots of positive comments about their politeness and behaviour along the way which made us very proud.
The children and staff all had an amazing time and made memories that will last a lifetime!
Day 1 - Travel to France via ferry, introductions and tour, campfire
Day 2 - Trip to Etaples market, park visit, chocolate factory tour and shop, film night
Day 3 - Trip to Disneyland Paris
Day 4 - Rue tour, Le Touquet shops and beach, cookie factory tour, disco
Day 5 - French Supermarket, travel home via ferry

Fantastic Football!
Well done to the girls who represented our school on 8/1/24 in a school football match.

What an amazing week it has been! We began Monday with the story of 'Amazing Grace' read by Mrs Fordyce to all of the children. On Tuesday we focussed on poetry and the children worked on their own versions of poems in their classrooms. On Wednesday we bought our favourite types of texts in and shared them with each other. Thursday was PJ day and the AR competition where we tried to read and quiz on as many different books as possible. Finally on Friday we all dressed up as our favourite book characters and decorated our classroom doors. The costumes were amazing!
