Book Week
Next week, the week beginning the 3rd of March, we are celebrating BOOK WEEK and WORLD BOOK DAY!
Here’s some information about what we’ve got planned...
WORLD BOOK DAY Thursday the 6th of March
All children are invited to celebrate and dress up as one of their favourite book characters. The character could be from any book of their choice – old or new, short or long, traditional or quirky – the world of literature is your oyster!!! We can’t wait to see what/who the children decide to be!
During the day, the children will be designing and making mad hats to wear to their very own ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’ where they’ll get to wear their designs and share all the things they love about their chosen book/character with their classmates and teachers. Keep your eyes peeled on the Facebook and Dojo pages for photos and videos of the magic!
READ FOR GOOD READATHON
You will have received a letter from the school office with information about our Readathon earlier today.
Our Readathon is a wonderful opportunity to get every child to read by asking friends and family to sponsor them to read a page, a chapter or even a whole book! Every sponsor’s donation goes to the charity Read for Good, which provides books and storyteller visits for children in hospital. As a school, we also receive 20% of the total donated to spend on brand new books! Find out more here: www.readforgood.org
As shared in the letter, the children’s sponsor cards will be coming home with them on Monday and need to be returned to Class Teachers by Tuesday the 11th of March.
PAIRED, PEER READING FOR PLEASURE
Throughout the week, every child will get to read a book of their choice with an older friend from a different year group. We believe this will be a brilliant opportunity to experience reading for pleasure with someone new and to build friendships and rapport within our school community.
MCGRAMMAR VIRTUAL EVENT Friday the 7th of March
Years 3 – 6 are going to be attending a very special virtual event with MC Grammar himself – the multi-award winning teacher and World Book Day Ambassador. They’ll be exploring his new book - ‘The Adventures of Rap Kid’.
Watch this space for photos and videos of all things BOOK WEEK 2025!
