Book Week 2020
Mon 09 Mar 2020Halfway Houses held their ‘Book Week’ from 2nd to the 6th March.
The whole school focused on the book called ‘The Dot’ by Peter H Reynolds, for a growth mind-set theme. All the children ‘made their mark’ and created dot pictures.
There was a class door competition around a book theme and these can be viewed in the gallery under ‘Book Week Displays’.
We had a bookshop in school on Tuesday, the children could use their World Book Day tokens to get a book, along with many more choices.
Tuesday and Wednesday were extreme quizzing days where years 3 to 6 tried to complete as many AR quizzes as possible; the children were very enthusiastic and loved taking on this challenge!
Thursday was World Book Day and everyone could come to school in fancy dress-the theme was come as a ‘word’, there were some amazing creations. At 3pm, the gates were opened and parents/carers could come in to school to view the decorated doors, dot pictures and spend time reading with their child whilst having hot chocolate and a biscuit.
More pictures on the Gallery page.

Parking near the school
Mon 03 Feb 2020We respectfully ask parents to park considerately in the school car park and the surrounding areas.
The school has visitors and deliveries before, during and after the school day and the entrance should be kept free at all times.
In case of an accident the emergency services would also need to have clear access to the school.
Please consider this and the local residents when parking your car to drop or collect your child.
We would also remind parents, that you can use the school car park when dropping children off to breakfast club, or when picking up from an after school club.Always be aware of the safety of the children when using the drop off zone in the morning or at the end of the school day.

Christmas Card Replies
Mon 20 Jan 2020UPDATE January 2020-We have had cards back from The Queen, the Prime Minister-Mr Johnson, the United Nations, the CBBC Team and the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall in reply to our school Christmas card we sent them!
Pictures below.
This year we are aiming to spread the festive joy as far as we can.
All the children at Halfway Houses entered a design into our Christmas card competition and the winning design was by Sophie in year 6.
This was then made into a printed Christmas card to be sent out to local schools and businesses, but also, to the Royal family, the Prime Minister, the Whitehouse and even the Pope!
We are hoping to get lots of replies.
